Immediate Release: Warsaw Community High School Students Named National Merit Scholarship Finalists
WARSAW, IN - Warsaw Community High School (WCHS) is excited to announce that two students have been named Finalists in the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program, one of the nation’s most prestigious academic competitions.
Seniors Preston Park and Ian Parrott have advanced to Finalist standing after meeting a rigorous set of academic, testing, and application requirements.
Each year, more than 1.5 million students enter the National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the PSAT/NMSQT. Of those students, approximately 16,000 are named Semifinalists, and about 15,000 advance to Finalist status. Finalists are now eligible to compete for National Merit Scholarships, which will be awarded later this spring.
This recognition reflects a sustained record of high academic performance, strong standardized test scores, and a comprehensive application that includes school recommendations and student achievements.
“We are incredibly proud of Preston and Ian for this outstanding accomplishment,” said Principal Troy Akers. “Earning National Merit Finalist status is a testament to their dedication and work ethic. Congrats Ian and Preston!”
Finalists will now be considered for approximately 6,870 National Merit Scholarships, with recipients announced beginning in April and continuing through the summer.
Warsaw Schools congratulates Preston and Ian for this achievement and looks forward to seeing all they accomplish in the future.
