Warsaw Community High School Senior Bronwyn Poch Awarded Rick and April Sasso Family Scholarship

Warsaw Community High School senior Bronwyn Poch has been selected as the 2026 recipient of the Rick and April Sasso Family Scholarship, one of the region’s most competitive academic awards.
The Rick and April Sasso Family Scholarship provides full tuition for one year of study at any accredited nonprofit college or university in Indiana. Recipients may also be eligible to renew the scholarship for up to four years of undergraduate study. Rick Sasso, a WCHS graduate, is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in spinal surgery and President of the Indiana Spine Group. Rick and April Sasso have generously supported charitable initiatives across Indiana, including impactful projects in Warsaw and Winona Lake.
About Bronwyn Poch: Bronwyn will graduate with honors in May 2026 and plans to pursue a degree in mathematics and physics. She shared that staying in Indiana is important to her, saying, “I’d like to attend college in Indiana so I can stay close to home and continue serving the community that has served me so well.”
Her references described Bronwyn as an exceptionally self-driven, high-character student with remarkable integrity and intellectual curiosity. They emphasized her ability to elevate every classroom, team, and extracurricular setting with an unmatched work ethic and passion for learning.
Bronwyn’s involvement includes Academic Super Bowl (math division), Orchestra, Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council, National Honor Society, Math UIL, Track and Field, Indiana Thespian Troupe, and Cross Country.
She was surprised with the scholarship during a special presentation at WCHS on Friday, November 21.
WCHS Principal Troy Akers praised Bronwyn’s commitment to excellence, sharing, “Bronwyn is an exceptional student in the top 1% of her class. She has taken many high-level courses, including several AP and dual credit classes, which have paved the way for her outstanding success at WCHS. She also excels as a musician and is a highly advanced member of our Honors Advanced Orchestra. She has an incredibly bright future ahead.”
