After one of the most successful seasons in Warsaw Lady Tiger cross country history, the Lady Tigers headed to state in Terre Haute. During the entire postseason, the ladies had number one finishes at Conference, Sectionals, and Regionals, and a runner-up finish at Semi-State. The season was rounded out by a 17th place finish at the recent State Final meet.
Sophomore Joey Rastrelli led the team with a 45th place finish with Senior Wini Barnett following. Ava Knight, Mikayla Mimnaugh, Regan Brouwer, and Elizabeth Vander Bie came in one after the other at the finish line. The team was rounded out with Amanda Lusinde as the 7th Lady Tiger.
The team had clear and concise goals going into the meet— stay packed up and run as a team. The Lady Tigers always knock it out of the park when it comes to pack running, and today was no different. Ava Knight, Mikayla Mimnaugh, Regan Brouwer, and Elizabeth Vander Bie worked together during the entire race. The group is most definitely a force to be reckoned with, and that is an understatement.
Head Coach Jason Fleming stated, “The chase group moved through the race with great power and determination, nothing is stopping those four girls.”
For the five seniors on the postseason team, the end of the season was bittersweet. Wini Barnett, Ava Knight, Regan Brouwer, Amanda Lusinde, and Macelyn Marcuccilli all felt that their senior season as a whole was very successful and rewarding.
Freshman Ella Laput remarked that she “will always look up to the seniors.”
Congratulations Team & Coaches: Jason Fleming, Nate Howett, and Megan Davis
