We are excited to welcome Ms. Elizabeth Van Wormer back to Washington STEM Academy as our newest 3rd grade teacher! Ms. Van Wormer is a Warsaw native and graduated from Grace College with a degree in both elementary and special education. While at Grace she played collegiate soccer and completed her student teaching at Washington before joining Leesburg Elementary as a 1st & 3rd grade teacher. She has been the soccer coach there and involved in many after school clubs and activities while also teaching summer school for the district.
Growing up, Ms. Van Wormer spent a lot of time naturally developing her desire to be a teacher. She served at multiple summer camps with kids and grew up in a family with younger cousins. As Ms. Van Wormer stated, "Now that I have been teaching for a couple of years, I have come to realize that I love helping students to better learn who they are as learners and help them to find what they are passionate about." This passion comes from building relationships with every student in her classroom. Ms. Van Wormer has the posture of a lead learner as she grows in her craft and surrounds herself with amazing teachers.
Ms. Van Wormer has made the transition to Washington smoothly and has shared about how it feels like home already. When she is not in the classroom, Ms. Van Wormer loves going on walks with her dog, Merry, watching Disney movies, spending time with family, and just enjoying a hammock and a good book. Washington is thrilled that Ms. Van Wormer is a Hornet again! Welcome!
