Looking to join a sport? If you’re able to simply put one foot in front of the other, you should come join the Cross Country team!  Practices begin today after school from 3:15 to 4:45p in Miss Nelson’s room.  Runners will need to have a mask, a full bottle of water, and proper running shoes. New runners are welcome to join until Tuesday August 25.

Just a reminder that the office needs to be notified about any Appointments that will take students out of the building during the school day.  We also need a note from the doctor or dentist when a student returns to school. Parents can contact the office with the appointment information so the student can be ready to be picked up.

ID CARDS Each student must wear a clearly visible student photo identification card on a break-away lanyard each day at Edgewood Middle School. Replacements will cost $4.00 for an ID and $1.00 for a lanyard. Unpaid ID’s will result in school consequences. All middle and high school students will be issued ID badges. Students are not to deface the card.  Unusable cards need to be replaced at the student's expense immediately. The identification badge is to be attached to a lanyard and worn around the student’s neck at all times.  ID badges will also be used in the library for checking out materials. Students who lose or deface their ID badges will be subject to school discipline such as eating lunch last since cafeteria staff will have to enter names manually. WCS Parent-Student Handbook pg 37.

IPAD POLICY Student iPads are the property of WCS. Inappropriate use of a school device can result in the loss of device privileges. Students must also have their iPad at school and fully charged at the start of every day. Failure to come to school prepared may result in consequences. Gaming resulting in a disruption of learning will be an automatic removal of ALL non-school issued gaming apps.

It is important that if you wish to have insurance on your IPAD, you sign up online.  The optional, but highly recommended, iPad insurance deadline to purchase is at the end of this month. OPEN ENROLLMENT IS ONLY AVAILABLE UNTIL AUG. 31ST FOR RETURNING AND CURRENTLY ENROLLED NEW STUDENTS.  AFTER AUG. 31ST, INSURANCE WILL ONLY BE AVAILABLE TO NEWLY ENROLLED STUDENTS BY CONTACTING CENTRAL OFFICE. The link to sign up can be found on the WCS website https://www.securedtechsolutions.com/plan/warsaw927

Do not remove the protective shield. Remember these cases are to be returned at the end of the year with all pieces.  Insurance does not cover the case.  Last year a large number of students removed the protective shield causing multiple damages which then students were billed to replace the cases.

REPORTING AN ABSENCE  Phone 371-5096

When a student is absent from school, the parent/guardian must contact the school by 9:00 a.m. on the day of each absence. If the parent does not contact the school within 24 hours of the absence, the absence is considered unexcused or truant. Unexcused absences or truancies can result in the student being assigned to a Friday School. Students are also reminded that they are allowed only seven days of absence during each semester. Students who exceed the limit of absences run the risk of not earning credit for the classes they miss. A parent letter for upcoming vacations is requested about a week in advance if possible.
