On Tuesday, Warsaw FFA members traveled to Oregon-Davis highschool to compete in Career Development Events.
Sadie Reed, 8th grade (not pictured) competed in the Entomology contest, where she identified 40 different insects by both their common name and order and took a written test over the insect industry. She placed 8th overall as an individual!
The middle school Forestry team consisting of Amy Joy (8th), Natalie Hohman (8th), and Kade Lackey (8th) also had success in their respective contests. The Junior Forestry Career Development Event consists of identifying 20 leaves,10 seeds, 5 insects and diseases, and taking a written exam. Amy placed 15th overall and Natalie placed 19th overall. Kade finished 4th place, punching his ticket to the State contest December 9th! The team placed 3rd overall and is an alternate for State.
In more exciting news, the Senior Forestry team of Edgewood alumni were nothing short of competitive. Alumni Rylan Cooper and Makayla Riley placed 2nd overall with their teammates, moving on to the State contest. The Senior contest includes identifying 30 leaves, 10 seeds, 10 insects and diseases, 5 woods, and taking a written exam. Makayla finished 5th, Rylan finished 7th, and Khloe Hinojosa(alumni competing as an individual) finished 33rd.
